Perth’s $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital set to create 1,400 construction jobs.

The $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital project in Perth has reached a significant milestone with the appointment of Webuild as the managing contractor. This initiative is set to replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital, enhancing healthcare services for women, newborns, and families across Western Australia.

Beyond its healthcare advancements, the project is poised to make a substantial economic impact by generating over 1,400 construction jobs. This aligns with the Cook Government’s commitment to job creation and infrastructure development, reflecting Western Australia’s robust economy and growing population.

The new hospital, located within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct, will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including inpatient units, a neonatology unit, operating theatres, and a family birth centre. Additionally, the project encompasses the construction of two multi-deck car parks to accommodate increased demand.

Construction is scheduled to commence later this year, with completion anticipated in 2029. This project not only signifies a leap forward in healthcare infrastructure but also serves as a catalyst for economic growth and employment in the region
