WA’s $225m Reid Highway Interchanges Project Moves into Full Construction

Major construction is underway on the $225 million Reid Highway Interchanges Project in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs, jointly funded by the Australian and Western Australian Governments. The project will replace the existing signalised intersections at Altone Road and Drumpellier Drive / Daviot Road with two new grade-separated interchanges, delivering significant improvements to traffic flow and safety.

Once complete, the upgrade will remove two sets of traffic lights from Reid Highway, a critical east–west transport corridor, reducing congestion and improving reliability for commuters and freight operators. New bridges will carry Reid Highway over Altone Road and connect Drumpellier Drive with Daviot Road, supported by on- and off-ramps and roundabouts to maintain access to surrounding suburbs.

The project also includes major upgrades for cyclists and pedestrians. A new Principal Shared Path bridge will cross the Altone Road ramp, while underpasses beneath both Altone Road and Daviot Road ramps will provide uninterrupted shared path connections between West Swan Road and Malaga Drive.

Delivered by Georgiou Group, the works are being constructed within a constrained footprint, requiring careful staging and temporary traffic arrangements to keep the road network operating safely. The project will deliver long-term benefits for local communities, freight efficiency, and active transport users, while new landscaping and urban design features will enhance the surrounding environment.
