WA’s Midland Station Opens, Marking METRONET Milestone that supported 250+ local jobs
The new METRONET Midland Station officially opened on 22 February 2026, marking a major milestone in Perth’s transport transformation and the completion of Western Australia’s long-term METRONET program. The state-of-the-art facility includes a 12-stand bus interchange, pedestrian overpass, upgraded public spaces and a multi-storey car park with more than 800 bays, significantly improving connectivity to key destinations including Midland Health Campus and Midland Gate.
As the 23rd and final METRONET station delivered, the broader program has added 72 kilometres of new rail and removed 15 level crossings, unlocking land for future housing, commercial development and community infrastructure.
METRONET’s investment has generated 250+ local jobs during construction and local contracts worth more than $50,000 for Aboriginal businesses, supporting WA’s economy and skills development.
Beyond improved commuter access, the station underpins long-term urban renewal in Midland, encouraging new residential and commercial investment while promoting sustainable public transport use. The project reinforces Midland’s position as a growing economic and community hub in Perth’s north-east.
