$543 MILLION GOLDFIELDS PIPELINE UPGRADE TO CREATE JOBS AND BOOST WA ECONOMY

Western Australia’s regional infrastructure pipeline has received another major boost, with $170 million in construction contracts awarded as part of the $543 million upgrade of the historic Goldfields and Agricultural Water Supply Scheme (GAWSS).

The contracts will see 44.5kms of ageing pipeline replaced, increasing the scheme’s capacity by 7.2 million litres of water per day while improving reliability for communities, agriculture and the mining sector.

Beyond strengthening essential infrastructure, the project will support more than 230 jobs and inject $170 million into the Western Australian economy, including $12.4 million flowing directly into local communities. WA-based contractors will deliver the works using locally manufactured pipe, providing further opportunities for regional businesses and suppliers.

Projects of this scale continue to drive demand for civil construction professionals, engineers, project managers, HSE specialists, supervisors and skilled trades while reinforcing Western Australia’s commitment to regional growth and long-term economic development.

As investment in essential infrastructure continues, projects like the GAWSS upgrade are helping secure water supplies, strengthen regional industries and create lasting employment opportunities across the State.
