The Opportunity

Due to continued growth across the WA infrastructure, water, mining and resources sectors, we are working with a number of established civil contractors looking to strengthen their estimating teams in Perth.
These opportunities suit experienced Senior and Lead Estimators with a strong background pricing civil infrastructure, water infrastructure, piping, roads, asphalt, earthworks, concrete structures and FRP works.
You will work within established pre-contracts teams, taking ownership of complex tenders across major infrastructure and mining civil projects. Depending on your experience, you may also lead estimating teams, mentor junior staff and contribute to tender strategy, risk reviews and bid governance.

Project Exposure and Technical Environment

You will work across a broad range of civil construction and infrastructure projects, typically valued from $5M through to $500M+.
Project scopes may include:

• Major civil infrastructure projects
• Water infrastructure, pipelines and associated civil works
• Bulk and detailed earthworks
• Roads, highways, pavements and asphalt
• Concrete structures and FRP works
• Underground utilities, drainage and services
• Mining civil infrastructure and Non-Process Infrastructure
• Industrial infrastructure and site development
• Dewatering systems and associated civil works
• Mine rehabilitation and closure projects

Estimating and Software Environment

You will be working within established pre-contracts teams using industry-standard systems and tools, including:

• Expert Estimation or similar platforms.
• Candy or Benchmark for cost planning and tendering.
• Advanced Excel for cost analysis, first-principles rate build-ups and reporting.

The Role

• Leading and managing tenders across major infrastructure, mining and civil construction projects
• Preparing detailed quantity take-offs across multiple civil scopes
• Developing first-principles estimates, cost plans and detailed rate build-ups
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and assess pricing
• Preparing tender submissions, clarifications and bid documentation
• Identifying commercial, contractual and delivery risks within bids
• Contributing to construction methodologies, programming and resource planning
• Conducting tender reviews and presenting pricing strategies to senior management
• Leading and supporting estimating teams depending on project requirements
• Mentoring junior estimators and supporting team development
• Contributing to broader pre-contracts strategy, bid selection and tender governance

For Lead Estimators, there will be opportunities to lead major tenders, coordinate multidisciplinary estimating teams and contribute to the ongoing development of estimating systems and processes.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience as a Senior Estimator, Lead Estimator or Estimating Manager within civil construction or infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience pricing major infrastructure, mining civil or water infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical exposure across earthworks, roads, asphalt, pipelines, utilities, concrete structures and FRP works.
• Proven capability developing first-principles estimates and detailed rate build-ups.
• Experience leading complex tenders from initial review through to final submission.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project risks and commercial requirements.
• Experience with estimating systems such as Expert, Candy, Benchmark or similar, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capability.
