$60 million infrastructure upgrade will deliver a non-stop freight link to the Port of Albany

A $60 million infrastructure upgrade in Albany will deliver a non-stop freight link to the Port of Albany, boosting efficiency and safety for heavy vehicles across the Great Southern region. The new flyover at Menang Drive and Chester Pass Road will complete the Albany Ring Road freight route and remove the need for trucks to stop mid-journey.

Highway Construction has been awarded the contract to build the grade-separated interchange, with substantive works now underway.

The project is expected to create local jobs during construction, support regional economic activity, and improve transport reliability for exporters and freight operators. Once finished, heavy vehicles will enjoy uninterrupted access from Chester Pass Road through to the port, cutting travel times and enhancing safety on key freight corridors.
