The World’s tallest hybrid timber tower granted approval in Perth with the project valued at $350 million.

The hybrid timber tower standing at 183 meters in height, designed by Fraser and Partners, has received development approval. The 51-story building is poised to become the tallest hybrid timber tower globally, surpassing the current record holder, Atlassian’s hybrid timber tower in Sydney, designed by Shop Architects and BVN.

The project, valued at $350 million, is set to be constructed three metres taller than its predecessor.

The hybrid timber tower will use 7,400 square meters of exposed timber in its construction. The development will be named C6, representing the chemical element for carbon on the periodic table, highlighting its status as Western Australia’s first carbon-negative building.

The fully electric building will include 237 one and two-bedroom apartments, a public park, urban farm, and an EV parking lot with charging stations. Additionally, it will feature a cinema, private food waste and recycling facilities, and house a fleet of 80 electric cars for communal use.

Fraser and Partners’ design incorporates biophilic principles, with 3,500 square meters of landscaped floral, native, and edible gardens, offering a “tower to plate” food and beverage experience.

C6 is committed to giving back to the community, dedicating 85 percent of the site for public use. This will include a nature-themed playground, educational and entertainment cinema, horticultural area, and landscaped gardens on the ground level.
